Health and Safety and the Environment
The Environment
Environmental issues affect our businesses in a variety of ways. The carbon footprint of a business, the environmental impact of business practices and the effect of climate change are areas that businesses are now addressing.
Our courses and workshops are designed to offer an introduction to environmental issues and to help support companies who wish to reduce their carbon footprint. We offer open courses so that groups of companies can come together to discuss ways in which they can address the issues that government regulations raise. There are workshops on future-proofing your business. You are helped to plan and deal with the issues that will affect the growth of your business.
We offer Director and Senior Manager briefings. At the end of the session, delegates will be able to identify a number of environmental issues that they will need to consider in relation to their business strategy. They will also learn about current and forthcoming environmental legislation that may affect their business, and will be provided with valuable sources of additional information.
Sustainable Development
Companies interested in Sustainable development are offered in-house briefings and support to make their business ‘meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs’ (Definition of the World Commission on Environment and Development)

Tues 13th April 2010

At completion of the session all delegates will leave with a calculation of the carbon footprint of their business and an action plan for reduction. (Note: this course involves 3 to 4 hours of data gathering work before the session.)

Delegates will be asked to prepare for the course by gathering data relating to their business. The session will look at:

- how to include the impact of the supply chain
After considering these issues, delegates will be invited to review their own data, enter it into an appropriate carbon footprint calculator and obtain a result.
